Recapping A National Rebuilding Day Project in Dayton, Ohio
We wanted to share one of the more dramatic transformations of a home during National Rebuilding Day last Saturday (April 25th). Take a look at these images and you’ll be stunned to see what Cricket and other volunteers were able to accomplish in only a single day.
Louise has lived in the same home in Dayton for more than 50 years and was referred by a neighbor to the Rebuilding Day program. Louise lives alone and her home needed substantial repairs, including the front porch, which was severely damaged when a tree fell on it.
The team of volunteers in Dayton worked on Louise’s home on Saturday and were able to repair the roof, build a new porch, upgrade the electric system, install new flooring and complete interior and exterior painting. Truly a remarkable story of the good a few people can do in their community.
Below is a video taken from a volunteer that recaps the removal of the broken porch before restoration began.
We look forward to informing Cricket Nation of other stories just like this one that took place on National Rebuilding Day 2009 in the coming days. Throughout the year we hope to inform everyone as Cricket and Rebuilding Together work together to restore our neighborhoods.
